>>LoveLife - Zoom Focus on the FZ10.

Theorem: Focusing at the FZ10's maximum enlargement will produce a sharper subject by placing it in the center of the DOF.

Benefits:

It allows for shaper focus of the key subject in the picture, by using a 1000 plus mm zoom you can insure that the person's nose, etc., is in focus. It seems to improve focusing in low light and difficult situations, by showing a maximum enlargement of the central subject covering the whole EVF.

Requirements:

Your shot must allow for allow for pre focus.

Your DTS must be about 8 feet or over.

Camera Settings:

Set MF Assist=on

Set to AP, SP, MP or P mode.

Set spot mode = off or on

Set Digital Zoom = on

Set Camera to manual focus

Set Mode=1 or Mode =2

Procedure:

Turn on camera and move zoom any position between 14X and 36x.

Aim in the center of your lens to the area where your key subject is located, it is helpful to have a vertical structure in the same plane. Flick the manual focus switch.

You can fine-tune using the entire EVF and the manual focus ring.

Lower the zoom to whatever setting you want, compose and take the picture.

I am also getting favorable results setting aperture and speed in 36X position.

Conclusion:

It may work the same at 12X I am still messing with it but it seems promising.
Here are two examples. I focused on the signs in both pictures.
