looking at it on a warm spring morning at 7 AM on the way to work, it looks like just another scenic peak, but in reality it's one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world, because of its proximity to populated areas and its potential for explosive eruption... from where this shot was taken, about 50 miles away, it's probably not so much a threat, but if the lid came off and the wind were blowing the wrong way...

I just love the Pacific North West - I would just love to wake up to that scene every morning. Thanks for sharing that pict. I had the same kind of view when in portland this year - see Mt Hood and Mt St helens in the distance. Seriously lovely.
