I know its not a panasonic product review but its still well worth taking a look at what I think may be the first hands on review of the Nikon D70s. Not very long or detailed but well worth reading esp the fact that exisiting D70 owners can simply apply a firmware upgrade that gives them many of the features and enhancments that have gone into the D70s.

"...Best of all is that existing D70 owners do not have to trade in their "old" camera but can bring it up to D70s standards by installing the new free firmware."

Thanks Harj, I already had this camera at the top of my wish list. It's good to see that Nikon believes that there is always room for improvement. Now, if only I didn't like my FZ20 so much.
Some day.... Some day.

I've got the same attachment to my FZ10, I think we're kinda spoilt but at some point it does look like I'll be going DSLR and I really am impressed by Nikon's commitment to their customers.

<D70 owners can simply apply a firmware upgrade>
..................................................
Harj they <Nikon> did this and wisely so to avoid that russian hack you can download
to upgrade the canon 300D in firmware to a 350D
<canon could easily have released an official upgrade>
..................................................
I think the D70S is a great choice its metering options are very sophisticated unlike the Rebel or even the 20D that both lack spot metering.
..................................................
I think the Rebel is still the most popular the range of lenses is huge The L glass USM etc...
..................................................
The Pentax *istD is very cool camera too it can take any lens back to the early spotmatic and K mount lenses
I do think tho' its 4/3 sensor is its weakness its NOT up to Nikon or Canon but clean at ISO800 which is fast
..................................................
Its not an easy choice I think Nikon gets my nod
Here is great Nikon DSLR site

Now you got me seriously thinking - D70/LC1/FZ10 i'd better start saving! I had a look at the panasonic website and they no longer sell the LC1 on line, its not even listed on the UK site so there could be a replacement or thats it no more Lieca box style digicams.. now that would be s serious loss. I as thinking about a D70/70s + 50mm Nikkor F1.8 prime lens - would be perfect for portraits.
