My next door neighbors lillies greet me every time I step off my back porch. The light and shadow captured my imagination the other day when I was on my way to the grocery store. I had to turn around and get my camera and took these shots before I could go shopping.

P.S. I'll lay off the alliteration for a while now. Between the lovely lillies and the pair of poppies, I think I've got it out of my system for now!

Too much like a snap shot, I have seen you work and know you can do much better.

I call that dappled light, I like this type of light myself, its softer and makes for shadowy effects, what is interesting are the shadows on the weather board cladding it gives clues of the surroundings.

Only observation is the plumming drain / vent pipe detracts Imho perhaps its inclusion was intended

Nice shots PG.

Day lilies Rock !!! I have some in my rockery in full Sun (Plain Yellow variety)

Thanks for the comments guys. And thanks for your candor Bumblebee, and for noticing my better work. I know these didn't turn out quite the way I wanted. I was trying to capture the soft light and shadows, butwithout much success. I actually meant to send the next two pics which were shot the day before. These are a little better, but still fall shy of the mark.

I think this is the one. Like I said, still doesn't quite do it. I'll keep trying though.

The overall shot is looking a little better headon with the window and the shadows coming in on the left. You're determined to get something good out of those lilies aintcha:-).(Which I believe are tiger lilies rather than day lilies.)
