Hello all.
Tonight im going into the hills in an attempt to shoot the city lights from a height.
Does anyone have any setting tips? Plus do i use a flash? no flash?ect ect..
Any help is appreciated

I would think that the flash would do next to nothing as your subject is in the far distance. My suggestions would be to use a tripod, turn off IS, switch to Shutter Priority, start at 2 seconds and work your way up from there. If you don't have a remote, use the timer function so your hands are not on the camera when you release the shutter.

i'm with Mtritt... except i might start with a faster shutter to begin with, especially if the city lights are very bright... definitely use a tripod and either the self timer or a remote shutter switch if you have one. you can also get a good starting point by shooting in "P" mode, letting the camera pick the exposure... i've gotten some very satisfying results shooting Christmas lights and night scenes in urban areas using the auto functions...
