Both are stunning shots. #1 is my favourite.

Nice to see the EXIF info too.

Cheers

Thanks Jand G. The eurydike lilies have been around for the last couple of weeks at the front door and have been a delight to behold. And photographing them doesn't seem to exhaust them or drain their energy in any way.

Thanks for the nice comments. Lilies are quickly becoming a favorite of mine as well. There are many, many varieties. Someone said in an earlier thread that there are 40,000 varieties of justthe common day lily! That is a staggeringly high number. (And suspect, IMO.) We had a cool, average-rainfall Spring and then the heat came on with a vengeance (and subsiding somewhat) and that has brought us a wonderfully colorful late-Spring/early-Summer on the East Coast.

While we are on the subject. Why doesn't the Easter Lily bloom closer to Easter? This is not a joke, so I hope those who have humourous answers to the question will refrain from abusing the Easter Lily. Things like - Well, they misspelled After Lily. Then again, perhaps it blooms in the Holy Land (remember THAT place?) during Easter/Passover and it used to be called the Passover Lily. Is there a Passover Lily?

Update: "The Easter Lily bulbs are harvested in the fall, packed and shipped to commercial greenhouses where they are planted in pots and forced under controlled conditions to bloom for the Easter holiday." Talk about abuse!

Hi, I just wanted to tell you that you always take such nice pictures. It's a pleasure to see them. I like both of your pictures very much. I too like lillies alot. My grandmother grew lots of day lillies in her yard( all around her circular drive).Day lillies of all colors( yellows, oranges, etc.)are abundant here in Florida. I used the Rubrum lilly alot in my floral design class. Thanks for sharing and inspiring, bentleysmom
