Acording to the FZ20 manual. I suppose to set the camera to Conversionto W orT when conversion lens is being used. What happen when I do the setting according to the manual? It said "If you set [CONVERSION] to [OFF], the performance of the conversion lens will not be optimal."

All it does that I can see is, it starts the camera at 6X rather than 1X.

Maybe someone else noticed a benefit to the setting.

Yes, I think the "less than optimal" statement probably means that when you turn on the camera without the TC on, it comes on at 1X zoom, and you then have to zoom out to get past the initial vignetting, which takes extra time, and thus the lens performance is not "optimal."

If you set it to "W", then you can only can go to max. 2x zoom to avoid the picture suffering from blurring/softening7getting ugly when zooming farther out.

In "T", the camera starts at 6x zoom to avoid the vignetting and you cannot go beyond that.

Hope, that helps and sorry for my gibberish english :-)

Is there any other benefit other than limiting the zoom range?

Is this setting apply to any converter (not only Panasonic converters)? I'm using TCON-14B and WCON-08B.

Do people change the setting according to the instruction or usually left it to 'OFF'?

Thanks.
