Hi All

Question? Who is already planning to get one? :-)

Wander what adaptors it will take? Will I have to get rid of all my accessories

I think by the number of posts there is one person that is already planning on getting one :G

Allan
The camera according to my view will not take any of the current third party adapters. A new one needs to be designed. The picture from the front does not show threads near or around the lens or fixed barrel. When the trim ring is removed male threads are exposed. These threads support the lens hood and the Panasonic WA and TC. I promise, if I am correct I will make and sell an FZ30 adapter that will fit any accessories.

I am seriouslyexcited about this camera. I too hope Panasonic doesn't try to enter the megapixel race and holds it at a sensible 6mp with an improved sensor.

If I remember correctly, haven't the new cameras been announced in July and made available in September? Seems to me the FZ10 and FZ20 followed that schedule.

Me to, hold off on the MP and give us better quality from 80-400 ISO.

The Fz30 should be announced in August and in the stores in September.

Now you would have thought that this thread would have died by now .. but nope its still alive I say!

I've had a look at the lens on the FZ30 and from what I can tell, the lens is the same size diameter as that of the FZ10/15/20. I'm not sure what the diameter on the current cams is so I could be wrong but as a comparison Pana's LC1 has a 69mm diameter lens paired to a 5MP 2/3 sensor. I hope I'm wrong as new larger lens would make the FZ30 really tempting esp if it had really clean ISO400/800 and 6-8MP 2/3 or 1/1.8 and hopefully, Pana has fixed the crap low light issue with the EVF. If it (FZ30) doesn;t then I'll wait to see what the 4/3rd Pana will be like or may be even get my hands on an LC1 if I can find one!

Sorry for the crappy pshop work, but I'm using my ibook and with a one button track pad it can be a bit of a pain.

The FZ30 is a lot bigger than the FZ20. The main features (taken from themanual which was available for download for a while) are:

1. 8mp, 1/1.8" sensor, ISO 80-400.
2. Lens is 35-420mm equivalent (F2.8-F3.7), 5cm macro.
3. There are manual focus AND zoom rings.
4. Two jog dials for quick adjustments (including program shift).
5. Flip/twist LCD and EVF are high resolution (235,000 pixels). Don'tknow if they gain-up in low light.
6. [email protected] movie mode (MJPEG AVI), length limited by card.
7. Zoom (and manual focus) during movies.
8. 9 area AF, High-speed 3 and 1 area AF, spot AF.
9. 3fps burst mode (9 at standard, 5 at fine). 2fps unlimited.
10. RAW and TIFF modes (no burst though).
11. Extended Optical Zoom (crop to get 19X zoom at 3MP, same as Sony's Smart Zoom).
12. MF assist (zoom all or center or none of the display during MF).
13. LiOn battery.
14. Remote socket.
15. Manual pop-up flash.
16. Tripod socket in-line with lens.
17. NR strength setting (High/Low).
18. Independent Contrast, Saturation and Sharpness settings (but only High/Low?).
19. Panasonic 1.7x tele and 0.7x wide conversion lenses available.

Here's a pic comparing FZ30 to FZ20:
