Hi! I have a panasonic FZ20 that I just love, but I've been reading a lot on this forum about the FZ5 and I am just wondering what the difference is? I've seen some great shots with both, and I would like to hear any opinions on which is prefered over the other, and why. Thanks in advance!

The FZ5 is just the little (a bit newer and smaller) sister of the FZ20, without:

-Manual Focus ring

-Hot shoe for ext. flash

-2.8 aperture over full zom range

and some other diffrences like a bit smaller Display and so on.

In the newest german FOTO MAGAZIN the FZ5 is the testwinner of

a test between: FZ5, FZ20, Sony Cybershot H1,Canon Powershot S2Is,

Finepix S5500,Dimage Z5 and Nikon Coolpix 8800.

Remarkable result, but for me the FZ20 is the first choice,

Greetings

Some of the main differences are that the FZ5 is considerably smaller than the FZ20.The FZ20 also has manual focusing and a hot shoe which the FZ5 does not have.

Thanks for the info! It certainly sounds like the FZ20 would win out, but I'm supprised by the findings of FOTO magazine...something to think about, anyways.

OK, let me tell you:

All 7 Cameras got the test result: "sehr gut", means "very best". Only "super" is better, and mostly given to DSLR`s in older tests.

The maximum quantity in the test are 200 points. It is the theoretical limit.

Mostly optical values and handling were tested.

1. Lumix FZ5 160,1

2. NikonCoolpix 8800 157,5

3. Canon Powershot S2Is 155,7

4. Lumix FZ20 153,9

5. Sony CybershotDSC-H1 153,4

6. Fuji Finepix S5500 151,4

7. Konica Minolta Dimage Z5 150,7

In the range from 0 to 200, all cameras are very close together.

Thats it from me in my bad english:P

Greetings
