Hi, I'm thinking of purchasing an FZ5, but its unclear from reviews and Panasonic litrature if this camera supports the attachement of other lenses. I called Panasonic but they said they are not currently marketing any additional lenses at the moment, and would not confirm if other 3rd partly lenses would fit.

Please can somebody let me know if they have succesfully managed to connect and use a wide-angle lens. If so, which one.

Thanks

Pete

The fz5 comes with an adapter that receives 55mm threaded add-ons. The Olympus wcon07b is a .7x wa that has 55mm threads and works nicely with the fz5. I use the Raynox dcr6600 .66x and am quite happy with it. However, the 6600 has 52mm threads and requires a step ring, the width of which causes vigentting with the stock fz5 adapter. I modified the adapter and get excellent results with the 6600. See modification at http://www.ishots.net/fz5/modified_fz5_adapter.htm

For some fz5 w/ dcr6600 samples see http://www.holmesburg.com/indepointe/index.html

This is a stitch of two (2)shots with the fz5/dcr6600 showing a 90 degree veiw. The absense of barrel distortion with the 6600 is well demonstrated here. Not many wa lens that wide could do this.
