I like its manual controls, 4x zoom, Leica lens & 8 MP

But don't like the native 16:9.

I am an advocate of "normal" 4:3, and 6MP is adequate for me.

Pana's spec says if set 4:3, it will be downgraded to 5.5MP. My silly maths below shows too much loss:

Ratio 4:3 = 12:9,
=> usable pixels = 12/16 x 8mp = 6MP
=> 0.5MP more loss than theory.

(my guess the CCD is not exactly 8MP or not exactly 16:9)

The loss in wide-angle is rather acceptable:
28mm x 16/12 ~ 37
as compared with Pana's spec of 38mm at 4:3.

Would some tall people in this forum shed me some light if the LX-1 is worth if I use it for 4:3?

What other features will I loose by using 4:3?

Thx!
