On my FZ 20 what does adjusting the exposure do?

I have seen reference to it when shooting sports. What is it doing, how does it help????

i assume you're referring to using the EV settings. a "-" EV setting reduces the amount of light reaching the sensor, which basically underexposes the image. a "+" setting does the opposite. "-" EV settings are useful for shooting spotlighted subjects where the subject would otherwise be too bright. "+" settings work for situations where the subject is dark, like a silhouette against a lighter background.

Only my opinion but I do not think it would help at all.

I keep mine at -1/3 but I believe it the way I meter the shot that needs the adjustment.

You really do not want to underexpose in low light as it promotes noise.

Once again, only my opinion but your better off to raise the ISO than to underexpose.
