Not sure what the name of this bird is ...does any one know?

his colors where vibrant just a beautiful bird.....:G

It looks like a Limpkin to me, but I could be wrong. Are you in the florida area? If I'm correct, I think that's where they are mainly found. Either way, great shot of a beautiful bird!

awww, thanks! I wish we had more cool birds around here for me to photograph, but all I mainly get to see are song birds. Oh well, I'll take what I can get.

Wow, those are great pictures. Yes, It looks like a Limpkin to me also. You must be in South or West Florida.....I haven't seen one in North Florida. They are also known as "the crying bird" because they have a piercing wail at night and on dark cloudy days. You were lucky to get a good picture in the sunlight. They feed on snails in the freshwater marshes.I think that they came here from South America.Thanks for sharing such good pictures. bentleysmom
