I was visiting Finland last week for a couple of days. Sadly I did not have time to take many photos as my schedule was so busy. I did not even get to take photos of the sea!

But I did get to take a few pictures anyway....

I came upon this odd site...
Is it a sculpture? An alien space craft? Why is it there?

Interesting! :lol::lol::lol:

It's a shame that roping it off ruins the look of it to me . . . mind you, if they didn't there would most likely bechildren attempting to climbing the sides. What is the material used to construct this? plastic?

Hi Suze; It is made of concrete and ceramic tiles as far as I could tell. It seemed to be a magnet for all the kids passing by as you can see in these photos.
I thought it was wonderful as it adds fun to the city scene! I came from behind and had at first no idea what it was...a sculpture? Then saw the entrance and it made sense. Albeit Helsinki seems full of modern sculpture including at airport where they had these giant wood sculptures of huge chairs and tables piled up o top of each other...I did take a picture...just need to do some pp on those!

Neat :-)

Nice pictures!

It's a shame that you are not in the Helsinki now, because of IAAF track & field world championship that's held there in this week. It would be interesting to see how the FZ's can do in such situations :-)

Thanks! Yes the World Athelitics were starting as I was leaving! I missed it all sadly - albeit it seems they have had a lot of rain to spoil it (I saw on tv here)...
