Hello,

I am considering buying a powerful digital camera and was initially attracted by the new Fujifilm Finepix S9000 Zoom.

I would like to compare it to the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ30.

Any feedback on this camera? Thanks

3 main differentiators Fuji S9000 vs Panasonic FZ30:

Wide vs Long Range:
Personal requirements there...

Fuji S9000 better wide range (28 vs 35 mm)

Panasonic FZ30 better long range (420 vs 300 mm)

Max ISO: Potential issue for low-lights scenes on FZ30?

Fuji S9000 handles 1600 ISO vs 400 for FZ30

Image Stabilization (only on FZ30): Gimmick or true differentiator???

Jitter from shaky hands is far and away the biggest single cause of blurry shots. LUMIX cameras help solve this problem with advanced MEGA O.I.S. (optical image stabilizer) technology. In this Panasonic technology, a built-in gyrosensor detects any hand-shake and a signal is relayed to a high precision control circuit built into the Venus Engine II LSI, which instantly calculates the compensation needed. A linear motor then shifts the O.I.S. lens as necessary to guide incoming light from the image straight to the CCD. Panasonic's highly evolved Venus Engine II LSI makes this process even faster and more accurate. This helps extend the MEGA O.I.S. correction range all the way to more than 3 steps (slower than) the shutter speed that is generally considered to be the limit for handheld shooting, which is calculated by the formula "1/focal length (1 divided by the focal length)." In addition to giving you clear, sharp shots, MEGA O.I.S. also expands your shooting possibilities.

Neither of these cameras are even available to the public yet. The FZ-30 is not expected to ship unitl the end of September. You might have to wait a while to get the feedback your looking for as none of the forum users will have any experience with this camera. http://www.dcresource.com/should be the first site to post a review. Review should be up sometime today.
