If you really need to exercise......try taking Tiger Beetles!!!!

Today it rained so not much pic opportunity at my usual hangout. But it stopped and brought my family to another Park. There, I saw many Tiger Beetles! Counted maybe at least 4 or 5. I have seen fellow photographers in Singapore wiht great pics of them, and after my this try, I am not sure how they manage to get such good shots of them!

These insects are so eddgy, moves very fast, and I have the squat and duck walk slowy to them. And have to put camera at the low angle, hence many blur shots. When I am about to take the shot...it sprints or flies off! So repeat process....really tough!

Here are the abit better ones, but definitely not as good as those taken by those I have seen. But just to post here to share these wonderful colours of this beetle. Wanted a side profile, but could not get a good one....

Saying that they are fast would is not enough. Last month I was in place where are hundreds of these beautiful beetles (but not as close beautiful as your), but I managed to get only several pictures of them and even than - only when they were mating when obviously their mind was occupied with other things than flying away form me
So considering all this you should be very lucky with these photos, and number 1 actually is outstanding.

These and other pictures forced me to do something different!
Frustrating: haven´t got the skills and the beetles.
Excellent! I like #3 best, #1 is too sharp

Actually beetles and other insects are everywhere! You just have to sit down in some meadow and you'll fill up memory card in no time (or the battery will end :-)) This is the way I do, so probably everyone could find tons of insects taht way :-)
But if you meant tiger beetles, than you shoud search them in sandy places.
So I'm waiting your pictures

Thanks C.
I meant the tiger beetles, I have never seen them before.
Starting my search tomorrow, searching for my skill to catch fast moving insects too!

Fabulous tc! The detail, particularly the variations in the metallic-like colour on the beetles is outstanding!

We have some similar beetles here in Germany, for example the "Dünen-Sandlaufkäfer" Cicindela maritima. Youcan find them in the dunes on the coast of the baltic sea. Right before your front door.
