Question for FZ30 owners - I'm wondering if you can shoot at 6 or 7 MP and whether or not that solves the noise problems being so widely reported?

No if you think it has a noise problem nothing changes that...myself I do not see a noise problem.

Quit looking at the picture at the original size and I do not think you will either.

Original size is 45 X 35 inches...just look at the photo at full screen on your monitor and the noise is not much of an issue...Nor is it when printed unless you print it at 45 X 35.

I'm a little confused. It least one review I read and some forum posts gave me the impression that it was possible to shift down to 6 or 7MP. Any idea what might be meant by this?

Oh you can shoot at 2mp ..3mp..5mp..and 8 mp but the noise remains the same.

I see no problem with noise but others sure do.

If you want a superzoom buy the FZ30 there is nothing else even close to it.

well heres a thread that seems to contradict my observations
