Already posted this in genral Q&A before finding this area.

Whichever of the three available picture size settings I select, pictures are still only 72dpi. How do I set higher resolution. I need 300dpi as pictures are used for publication in A4 trade magazines. Which picture size should I use? The "enlarge" setting downloads and 90cm wide. I use Photoshop.

Open the image in photoshop. Go to Image/Image Size. Uncheck the Resample Image box. Change the Resolution from 72 pixels/inch (notice it's not dpi) to 300 ppi. That will change your print size from 90.31cm to 21.67cm wide (or 8.5"x6.4"). The resolution of the image unchanged. Only the print size and pixel density have been changed. That's the highest in-camera resolution you can get with the fz5.
