took a drive up to the mountains today to see if the fall foliage was starting to appear. needs another couple of weeks, i think, but there were some very scenic spots nonetheless...

a painted slope...

some color by the riverbank

a peaceful river

anda rocky channel... this one was taken on the way home, after the sun went behind the hills, so the colors are a bit muted...

All are great, I could not pick a favorite. I love fall colors but don't like that it signals winter.

no PP except a touch more contrast and sharpening after resizing for the forum. i had a polarizer on for the first 3, but had removed it by the time the last one was taken.

Squirl love the pictures you really are fortunate to have such wonderful scenery on your doorstep. We have some great scenery here in the UK too but nothing that can compare to what you have in the US.

What surprises me is that when we were holidaying in the US a few years ago we were staying in a motel about an hours drive from the grand canyon(we were going there the next day)

We were in the pool talking to some other guests who were American, we asked them had they been to see the canyon and they said no,and they seemed to have no interest in going either.I couln't belive that they had no intention to see one of the wonders of the world that was only an hours drive away.
