Thisphoto inspired by beautiful photos of butterflies taken by every of you here!!, a photo of a monarch (?) butterfly I have taken yesterday, but not on a flower I'm sorry..:G,

no PP, only 25% resized, your inputs and opinionsare much appreciated, thanks.

I'm very happy ifall of youherewant to share your monarch too...!!

Oh WOW! Dian, this is a beauty of a shot and so tack sharp. The butterfly isn't a Monarch and I've never seen anything like it before. I have a butterfly id book for Eastern USA and this one isn't in it. I hope someone here can ID it because I'd love to know what it is.

these monarch is a wonderful spec of butterfly, they look more colourful in photos, very photogenic.:G

nice shot...and I have just about stopped trying to shoot any butterfly's here in my neck of the wood (Fla) they don't lite much and its very frustrating being that I love them so much....:sad:

After quick search in internet, I found that this butterfly could be plain tiger - Danaus chrysippus
But I coul be wrong since there are so many butterflys out there :?

i think the butterfly may be a "Viceroy".. very similar to a Monarch, but a bit different patterns. Here's a Monarch...



and this is a Tiger...

It still does look more like plain tiger to me :?
But It could be something else, because the pattern doesn't match 100%

could be, i'm no expert, just going by what the captions at the local butterfly exhbit said... mine could be a different variant. yours does look more like the "plain tiger", now that i've looked it up...
