Money is the difference. The Hoya dual coated standard UV will produce the same results. No results their function is transparency.

Just buy any good quality UV filter. Make sure it is clear and not colored or tinted. The only thing a UV is good for is to protect the lens of the camera. UV light is pretty much filtered by the clouds and atmosphere outdoors, and is not a problem indoors. It just protects the lens of the camera. You will love it when you go to the beach. I would never expose my FZ20's lens to all that sand and wind without a UV.

Take care.

If the main purpose of getting UV filter is to protect the lens then, is it better to get a clear UV filter or a clear protector filter?

Thanks.

All good UVs will show the coating when held against a dark surface. It is just a lens protector.

The Hoya Pro 1 and Hoya Pro 1 Digital are the same price so I don't think it's the money.

I found some information on Pro 1 Digital here:

http://www.hoya-online.co.uk/lst189.htm

but I still don't know what the difference. Please could someone explain?

I understand that Hoya HMC UV filter will equally do the job, but I am just interested to learn the different between the original Pro 1 and the new Pro 1 Digital.

Thanks.

I do not know the difference, but there is an Email address and a phone # on the link you provided why not ask them?

I believe they are saying the digital model has a different finish on the frame but I do not understand why that would be that big of a deal....If you find an answer ,please post your findings.
