This plant is from the Outback of Australia where the original Aborigine tribes still exist very hardy an VERY long lived VERY slow growing

This plant is flowering now the huge flower spike is amazing removal from the outback is monitored and limited ... the plant you are looking at is ~100YO

This is in my neighbours garden

That's an interesting plant. We have something similar in Arizona called an Aguave (sp) or Century plant. It also puts up a stalk with flowers or leaves, once a year. Jim

This is a nice plant, John. In Mexico there are some plants similar, but they are more likely to cactus.

It is incredible the age of this small plant

Nice and informative pic. I have seen a variety of cactus in India along foothills, in which the leaves remain at the bottom but the flower is atop a stem shooting several meters up, very similar to this. Thanks for sharing.
