I have an FZ5 on the way from Butterfly.com. I am new to diggys.

I thought the mininim accessories needed would be:

memo card - size, speed, brand??? I'd like to be able to take about 200 high quality shots per card. Plus, need to be able to use BURST mode. Is it possible to get a card that is too fast? Meaning, if i get a 100x speed - would only about 60 percent of that speed be actually useable? My PC is ancient. Windows 98 SE. 233 mhz Pent 2 - 256 RAM

filters - what size does it take? Does it need an adapter or anything? Types you would get? I'm just wanting one to protect the lens. Not looking for any fancy effects (yet).

and, an extra battery. I assume that just the panasonic battery works in it right?

Anything else that a newbee would need? I already have a tripod. I'm trying to keep cost down therefore, just looking for the absolute ESSENTIALS.

Anyone one-place on-line site to get all three of the above?

Would BestBuy have competitve prices for the above three items? I can visit a BB. It is an hour away. But, would prefer buying all three items at ONE place, on-line - that has good prices.

Thanks for your help.

Get at least a 512mb card that writes at about 60X and too fast is better than too slow.

Yes there are many sources for batteries ...With E bay being the cheapest.

A card readeris in my opinion isnecessary and maybe moreso since you use windows98....once you get it setup you should be fine...98 sucks

Since you want to do it all at one place these are not the cheapest prices but

*****Do you have some brands to consider and brands to avoid?

****So, that 55mm with screw right onto the fz5 lens without any adapters?

*****But, i have to get one that is made JUST for the pany z5 camera right? IE. if it ran on double A's - then any old double A would do - but it is one of those special batteries (propriety?). So, what kind of search would i do on Ebay to find the exact battery for the fz5?
