The day Lily is 3MP mode

side view of this lovely flower

This Succulent is in 5MP mode it renders fine surface detail rather better I think the 5MP mode for a lot of work is the sweet spot in the FZ30 small files near no noise
8MP is best for LARGE prints...

The 3T is really nice to handle

John

Thanks for posting some more macros shots with the '30. I really like the 5MP pic no.3 - nice and sharp, lots of detail and really good DOF.

Whats the difference between the 3T and 4T macro filters ?

Cheers

Very nice John! Question, is that a Calla Lilly or a Day Lilly, or are they the same? Jim

Harj

The 3T is 1.5 diopter (mild) the 4T is 2.9 diopter (hot)

The 3T is easy to use for general flower shots it gives you a working nice distance but is easy to handle zoom adjusts image size and at the same time you move forward and backwords to get focus and then if all is right lock focus and shoot.

Now the 4T is harder to use its 2.9 diopter and is better for REAL close up work but very powerfull but still usefull, hard to describe in a forum but once you use them it becomes natural.

you can stack them so 1.5 + 2.9 = 4.4 and thats powerfull, but you may need a tripod.

It really opens up closeup work its why Nikon made them but yes for their slr lenses on the Fluzi they are great.

Harj look at my first attempt and pic #1 its a flower 10mm long shot with the FZ30 + 4T

I think 5MP is the sweet spot for the FZ30 great detail near no noise but small files.

For poster prints go 8MP....

Cheers

John

I really like to see when a person focuses so much effort on doing one thing extremely well. Keep up the good work.

John, I didn't know but my wife pointed out that she thought it was a Calla not a Day Lilly. Guess I'll have to listen to her more often! All I know is it looked GOOD ! Jim

It will be fine with tripod to go with 5MP EZ or up to 19x at 3Mp and the4,4 diopters of Nikon 5T + 6T...

Nicce close ups John.I don't know why, but portrait mose ones don't convince me: probably because more than 90% of my macros are shot in normal landscape mode and very rarely I take flowers in portrait mode.
But maybe it's just for this

PS: and forgive me, but the second one is the one I'd have taken in portrait mode... de guistibus anyhow 8-(
