great shots, John... i notice too that the FZ30 doesn't seem to oversaturate the reds as much as some cameras do. very nice!

Your right squirl my canon A40 and even the FZ1 can muck up reds in contrasty situations it is a very difficult color I think its to do with the Beyer sensor principle but heck I am no expert, the thing is to expose accurately I tend to bracket althought I am finding the whole screen averaging of light metering works well on the FZ30 and that at default -1/3EV that shot in a +- 1/3 bracket is usually fine.
I do like spot metering as well and have used it with success, exposure still remains one of the most critical aspects aside from composition and focus.

Beautiful roses John! Were they in your garden? I'm jealous too, you are going into summer and I'm going into winter. At least I will still have a lot of beautiful warm weather photos to look at, thank's to this forum.

Don they are in my neighbours garden near, Ye its Summer here its real nice.
