Hi, I want to get a backup battery for my FZ30. I have still have a generic one from my FZ20 which also fits, but it doesn't hold a lot of juice. I see some non-OEM batteries on ebay with 950 or even 1000 mAh, which might or might not be accurate. And they run $10 or less, but then several of them ship from the UK, Hong Kong or Australia. Does anyone have any experiences with any of those or any recommendations or warnings? thanks.

Rduve, I purchased one of those batteries on Ebay. I believe it was shipped from Hong Kong. Anyway the battery works fine, it's 1000 mah. The only problem was it took about two weeks to get here. Jim

Ok, thanks. Does it actually last longer than the original which only has 720 mAh or is the 1000 mAh claim exaggerated? My generic FZ20 battery seems to pack significantly less power than the original.

This is a good a place as any to get a battery ...but I would not expect them to be better than the original...regardless of the claims.

The vendor is 1st rate they will fix any problems that may occur.

If you Google "Digipower dps-9000" you will find a great battery that lasts a LONG time.

It mounts in tripod hole in bottom of cam but batt also its own tripod hole

~$40 so a lil pricey BUT it will work in almost any dig cam AND will last considerably longer.

thanks. I might try them. But despite being "1st rate" you think their claim that the battery holds 1000 mAh vs. the originals 720 mAh is inaccurate?

Yes I think the claim is inaccurate but its only my opinion.

But I can say that if you are unhappy they will make every attempt to satisfy you.

When I got a FZ30 battery I also got a cell phone battery that would not work in my phone and they sent a new one along with a PP envelope to return the first one.

Thanks, Gene. I ordered from them and I added a 4-pack of rechargable AA batteries to make it up to the $25 where I get free shipping. I think I'll have all accessories I can think of now.

No, it has its own proprietary battery.
