For those who saw the rain drenched Rose Parade, the following are the views of the storm from the other side of the mountains east of the Los Angeles basin at sunrise.

The followingis my first attempt at using the Panorama Maker software that came with my FZ5. Looks like I'll have to use it more often to get the exposures similar but the rising sun had some say in it. The view is looking southwest towards the eastern part of the LA basin as the storm was running into and spilling overthe mountains 100-miles east of Los Angeles into the High Desert (Mojave Desert).

The second photo is maybe 10-minutes later in the same area using a zoomed setting. By midday, we've had 50+ winds and cold rain. They just had a weather alert on the TV warning about possible tornado conditions to the SE of LA.

Welcome to 2006!:-)

Stoney79-

Yes, the day turned out to be interesting. As the storm moved in we had a good wind strom develop. In fact, we had power outages a few times but usually came back in a few minutes. Turns out, we were on the right side of the road as the 50+ mph winds played havoc with the power poles a mile down the street... Photo is from the local newspaper:
