had my first go at taking some bird shots, having owned my FZ30 for 2-3 weeks. The shots here are of a chaffinch, a green finch and a blue tit. All comments and tips welcome.

Nice pictures!

From what distance did you take them? With full zoom?

Thanks. I was about 1.5 - 2 metres away, in my car actually (parked). They were taken on full (extra) zoom using the 5m pixel setting.

These are great shots. That blue tit is a beautifully colored bird. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent shots.

I have these species in my garden regularly, and I'm looking forward to using my FZ30 on the blue tits when they go in and out of a nest box which I have fixed onto the garage wall. That'll be in the late Spring. I used to use a 80-210 mm Tamron lens with an SLR from the bedroom window, but I should get a much better result with the FZ30 on its extrazoom. Looking forward to it.

What shutter speed was used here? These birds don't hang around for long, do they?
