It takes a beautiful picture. Now all I need to do is learn how to hold the d*mn thing steady...:X I guess that's what the tripod is for.

The connection seems very solid, although I doubt the plastic adaptor threads will maintain their integrity over time, so I will be using a HOYA UV filter for a better connection. I sanded1mm off theadaptor rimusing 150-grit paper, then a smooth 400-grit paper, and finally Ipolishedthe rimback to aglossyblack with 1500-grit paper. One can't tell that it's been modified, but it's certainly an improvement.

Thanks all for the great tips.

Congratualtions, Ken! The tcon17 is indeed a very nice piece of glass. With a little practice (and once the excitement has decreased some ) you shouldn't have any trouble handheld in good light with the fz5 ois. Lock your elbows to your body, use the ev, andcradle the tcon17 with your left hand. A tripod is probably not such a good idea in that there is no support for the tcon. Looking forward to seeing some shots.

Here's a shot I took today. It's a Bell 47 (like the ones used in M*A*S*H) taken from approximately 400 feet.

With the TCON17 I suppose? Good clarity and sharpness...
