Anyone familiar with 17th st. Photo. Seems they have about the best price I can find on a TCON 17 Lens.

According to ResellerRatings they are OK but is it this tcon17 your looking at there

seems to be about the same price everywhere.

Have you checked the shipping costs? They do have good ratings, but I think I previously found that their shipping charges were a little higher than some of the other places. For my zip code anyway, I wound up with a slightly lower total cost on the TCON 17 from B&H Photo.

The lens you are looking at is the TCON-17F. You didn't say which camera you are using, but to my knowledge, neither the TCON-17F nor the TCON-17C will work with any of the Panasonic camera models. You need to look for a TCON-17 (with no letter designation after the name). The TCON-17 has 55mm threads, so it will connect directly to the lens adapter of the FZ-5 and FZ-30 cameras. If you are using another model Panasonic, you will need a different adaptor/step-down ring, c-ring, etc. to make it fit.

US89.88 at www.jr.com, and shipping is only $5.95.

I just bought one from them and they seem very professional. Shipping took 3 days.

I made that mistake once and overlooked the F in the end. Totally different lens. It is MUCH smaller for a camera with a 30 mm mount or so. I had to send it back. You need the TOCN 17, no extra letter in the end.

Much thanks to all of you for responding. I do have the FZ-30 and did not realize the difference in letter designation. Also thanks for clearfying exactly which lens I need.

I shall look at the websites reccommended and go from there.

Thanks again.

You do not want the F mount as that is a bayonet mount and will not fit the FZ cameras..

And while I am not sure about the C model I believe it will work but comes with an adapter for the Olympus Camedia series cameras.

The numbering is very confusing...I have seen some stores mark the one we want as an X.....Just make sure it has 55mm threads and you should be fine.

This seems to be the best price for the correct lens

I have dealt with J&R before, not for camera stuff, and they were professional and the delivery was fast. I used to have relatives that lived in the States.

Now if I can only find a good deal on a wide angle that will ship to Canada.
