Hello,

I've ordered a FZ30 and hope to get it next week.

I'm looking for a spare battery and I was wondering if I have to buy the panasonic batteries (€ 70,--) or can I use non-brand batteries (2 batteries for € 45,--)

I've heard that cellphones may explode if you don't use the right battery, so I'm wondering what effect it has on the FZ30 when I don't use panasonic batteries.

I have and use several different brands over the last few years with no problems.

I would think you just have to make sure the non-brand battery is designed as a replacement for the original battery.

I bought a Power-2000 replacement for my FZ10 and have had no problems in over a year.

I'm not quite sure how much more / less voltage can a camera take... anyone?

I bought and used two extras designed for the FZ20 last year with no troubles at all. I'm also awaiting my FZ30 and bought two replacement batteries off eBay yesterday *cheap* but I anticipate they will work just fine.
