Couldn't resist the urge. I ordered the new FZ7 and it should arrive on Friday. My main concern is the usefullness of the 'high angle LCD'. If it works as described it's all but assured to be a keeper. If not, ebaY.

I'll post initial reactions and as much info as I can starting later tomorrow. Go ahed and line up questions on specifics here and I'll do my best to give you answers and impressions.

Where did you buy your camera? I thought they wouldn't be available until March! Congratulations on your new purchase. Can't wait to see the pictures.

I'm very interested in the FZ 7 camera. My daughter plays 2 high school sports basketball and softball.Presently I'musing a Canon IS 1 to take picturesand stopping action in normal gym lighting without flash is nearly impossible.

I'm very interested about the preformance at the higher ISO 800 and 1600 settings. I'm hoping this camera might allow me to use higher shutter speeds to stop the action better, even at the sacrifice of some quality.

I also was wondering where you purchased the camera from, everything I readjust says available in March. My daugher's team hopefully will be playing at the state games in the first weeks of march.

quality at high sensitivity mode (800-1600 iso) is
1)great at 640x480
2)good at 800x600
3)ok at 1024x768
I would much prefer a real full size sample full of noise than a 0,5 megapixel photo upsampled to 6mp which of course has no noise but also no detail at 6mp and you have to resize it to 1 or less megapixel so as to look ok

actually, in the full-size crops, it's "quite visible" down to ISO100! appears significantly noisier than the FZ5/10/20... probably due to cramming more MP onto the same size sensor. i surely hope Panasonic doesn't follow the same pattern with the FZ40, because if they do,my next camerawill NOT be a Panasonic!
