Hi

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"I've been taking pictures with the fz20 and have been very happy with the results, outdoors. I want to do more indoor photography and was advised to get an external flash, which I did. I got a Vivitar 285hv. I don't know how to use the pc sync cord. I know how to attach it, but don't know what settings to use. Can somebody help me?

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"Thanks!

To use the sync cord you need one of two things:

camera with sync port on it (which the FZ's do not)

or

Hot Shoe adaptor with sync port on it. http://www.adorama.com/FAHSPCA.html

the only purpose of the pc sync cord is to trigger the flash when the flash is not on the shoe (like on a grip bracket)

Hi Eddie,

Thanks for replying! Are you sure I can't connect a pc sync cord to my fz20?

That's a bummer! I have a bracket with a grip, that I got, too, but never thought I wouldn't be able to use it.

Well, appreciate your help.

Thanks!!

As Eddie said, if you buy a hotshoeadapter (which fits in your hot shoe) it will have a sync port for your sync cord. You can then use your bracket and place your flash off the camera to make the lighting less flat. Works great!
