I do not know about the dSLR-s (I do not ahve one) but it is sure that when a 10min shot is taken the photographer "thinks" more than 30min before it shot it. Because it will understand the result after a 10min and it can not take more than a 20-30 shots for a whole night
So aditional 10min for such shots are not a problem IMO.

Good argument.
But I would be too impatient... I am experimenting a lot with long exposure times and not always can I tell the result in advance. Thats the exciting part of photography.

My DSLR does the same thing as my FZ. Has to create a black frame and remove the hot pixels and noise. It is normal.......thekman.
