Was at a park yesterday, and saw the 2 striped telamonia again...I think the same fella as before. Manage to take a small lynx with a type of mosquito or fly and a heavy jumper.

Appreciate any comments please. Thanks!

FZ10+6T+Sigma CU, ISO 50, F8. Bounce flash

#1: Lynx with meal

#2: Heavy Jumper

#3: Portrait view

#4: Two Stripe Telomonia

Had to use direct flash, as somehow, the bounce flash was not able to provide sufficient light. Had to PS the shadows to soften it.

2 more. Dunno which one is better? Appreciate your views.....

Just to add.....the whites are abit blown for these 2 shots. But dunno which composition is better in your view. Thanks!

#5: Ready to pounce

#6: Standing higher abit....

Thanks for the comments!

They don't seem to be affected by the flash.....or at least I think so. They don't react when the flash is fired.

Great series Tchuanye.

#2 and 1 my favourite ones.
Great detail in the hair and eyes of #2, sharp focus and sober color.
Months ago one of the things I really liked of your FZ10 + ext flash +4,5 macros was that very saturated bright green in the uniform bokeh background (like the one in the first pic feather).
These two are more in dSLR style, maybe less attractive but more true in colors.

I also like the one with direct flash, but we can compare the loss of fine detail in the hair compared with the previous 3 pics (and you also had to PP shadows).

I suggest you, when you have some time, to play a little bit more with your images other than the standard PP.
It could look a nonsense, but sometimes macros provide splendid BW (see the only red or green channel); or increase contrasts and play with blending modes (multiply blending if you use Photoshop)

Thanks Narmer for the comments.

I was trying to put my finger on what was wrong with #4 with direct flash, and glad you pointed it out!...loss of fine details...cos somehow, the feel of #4 was different, and I could not figure out what was it. Thanks for that!

PS wise, I am actually quite a novice. Other than the standard steps, I am not too familiar with the other stuff.....have read some PS books, but still really in the dark abt all these effects.....have much to learn from you!:-)

How do you set up the bounce? I really like the details on the 1st 2 shots.

I use a white card board and attache it to the flash via rubber bands
