Sure these are IR photos. You need completely exposed (hence dense with dyes) colour negatives (maybe dyes used in chromogenic B&W films are transparent to IR as well; not sure). Two negatives may be needed to achieve sufficient visible light opacity to get a reasonable IR effect. Combining complementary coloured gel filters is another option sometimes used.
