Hello,

It's been quite a while since I've posted, but I've been very busy. Still, most of my spare time has been devoted to photography.

In a recent issue of Popular Photography therewas an article about a guy who takes photos on his commute to work every nightas a web pageeditor with a newspaper. Sorry I can't remember his name and don't have the magazine with me. Anyway, he takes beautiful photos. I was inspired to try his techniques:

Iset upa tripodin my truck with one legwedged firmly between the bucket seats. The camera was set at f 2.8at 6 seconds in Manual mode. Noise reduction on high; exposure mode on 3 point autofocus. And thecable shutter release plugged in (use your timer if you don't have a cable.) Then drive around at night and trip the shutter when you come upon opposing traffic, brightly lit signs, etc. Some of my best were takenwhile turning through an intersection. But please be warned! This can be habit forming.

Nice shots!

I was just thinking of doing that, but not at night. I used to have a setup years ago to mount a Canon A1 on atripod in my truck. It placed the camera just above the dash. I just aimed the camera in the direction of something interesting while driving and pressed the cable release. I did enjoy that and forgot about it until a few days ago. I shot a few rolls on the way to the beach one year using that setup.

Now I want to try that at night. Thanks for the idea!

Hi,

Just found the guy's web site who was featured in Popular Photography. His name is Ben McCleod. When I saw his photos, I had to try it myself. Here arehis driving pictures, but check out his others as well. It's worth the trip:
