Cropped, no PP, 5MP, hand held. See the purple fringing which the TCON produces?

yes, the TCON-17 is more prone to CA (purple fringing) than some other TCONs, but even the TCON-14 series will do it if the conditions are right. the pic looks a little soft... was it handheld, or did you use a tripod?

I agree, but it was at 1/250 at f/5.6 although hand held. I must try one again taken on a tripod when the conditions allow.

I think in this case it's that real chromatic aberration, like name says purple fringing is purple.

And don't bother with tripod, if that kind shutter speed is possible just search some solid object to which you can support arm/camera. (that should make also focusing more accurate)

using a12x lens at max zoom with the TCON-17 yields a 35mm equivalent of 730mm. 1/250 is not adequate shutter speed to ensure clear focus with a lens that long.a tripod is always better for this kind of shot.
