Wich one to buy for my FZ30?

The 5T has a diopter of 1,5 and the 6T has a diopter of 2,9.

They are both the same prize, but are they both as good/usable?

Do I need anything else to use the close-up lens?

Thanks!

Think it will have to be the 5T as I believe the 6T is discontinued according to most on here that have attempted to buy one.

Then buy them while you still can.
both are equal in terms of quality. 6T will magnify more but the longest focusing distanse with it is about 40 cm. winth 5T it is 80cm.
Longest focusing distance ~ 1m/
diopter,

either one is an excellent lens. i have the 6T, and have had very good results with it. it's twice as strong as the 5T, and will pull your subject in closer (better for really small subjects), but as Sunstorage mentioned, it has a shorter focal distance. on the FZ20, it focuses between 12 and 13" from the subject (30-33cm). the 5T is perhaps a bit more versatile for all but the smaller subjects; for flowers, most insects, and other general work, it might be a better choice since it offers more depth of field, and unless you want to count the facets on a fly's eye, it's probably good enough.

note that the 5T and 6T both have 62mm threads, so you will need a step-up ring to use either one with the FZ30. the 3T and 4T are the same, respectively, but have 52mm threads, and will need a step-down ring to use with your camera.

if you want an alternative to the 6T, the Olympus MCON-35 is, by all accounts, a very good close-up lens, and is still available. it also has62mm threads.

Ok.. thanks for the replies.

Don't know yet what to buy, but I know the differences and now I know that they are both good.

Thanks again!

I would not wait too long to buy the 6T it is almost impossible to find in the US. I find it to be an excellent choice I have done some experimenting with the lens and found that by reducing the zoom I get better DOF and can crop back the loss in magnification in PP. Here is an example of a spider taken at 9X and then cropped.

Also consider the olympus mcon-40 (or b-macro). Comparable in quality and power to the 6t, it has 55mm threads thus no need for a step ring.
