I wasn't sure if I'd ever get around to posting these, I've been so busy lately I hardly have the time, and since we finally got some nice weather in Buffalo I've begun to build up quite a backlog of photos to sort through.

This parade was the Sunday after St. Patrick's Day. It was rather cold and somewhat windy so taking pictures was pretty uncomfortable, but I ended up with several hundred anyway (burst mode is great for these kinds of things).

The lighting ranged from gray and overcast to lightly snowing, so it was less than ideal. Despite that, I was able to shoot all the photos at ISO 80 with a shutter speed hovering around 1/100. If I had to do it again I'd probably try for even faster shutter speeds, but for the most part I didn't have problems with blurring. I think the aperture was at 4.5 most of the time, so I could have probably opened it up even more and went to 1/200. I believe I was shooting in manual mode most of the time (I tend to do that in poorer lighting conditions).

None of these photos have been altered except for cropping, resizing and sharpening.

The faces really tell the story. The little red-headed lady liberty is the best. That poor thing is SO COLD!

I enjoyed them.

Thanks for the comments.

Corcoj, I agree, the people are what make the images interesting. I'm posting a few more images of some of the people. These images aren't as good composition-wise, but there are some interesting personalities in them.

This is Byron Brown, the first African-American mayor of Buffalo.

A little banter amongst band members.

This parade was rife with cute redheads.

I suppose this one is cute in his own way...

He was part of the parade, but I think he abandoned it in favor of mingling with the onlookers.

I don't know if this was some kind of homemade backpack... I suspect she just wanted attention.
