The grip itself is solid. I am referring to the thin part that you don't hold on to in the seam area of the gripnear the back of the lens. if you rub your finger back and forth, there is slight movement. I guess it's possible some have it and some don't.Itwould not be noticed under normal useage.

Checked mine. A little play (just under the "Panasonic DMC-FZ30"), but I have to really try. Have had my FZ30 since 1st released, about 6 months now, and I don't see it as a problem. Remember, it IS rubber material. Based on the design of the rubber rear thumb grip that fell off my FZ20 I would venture that this FZ30 rubber grip has small tabs on the back of this molded part, that at assembly are pushed into and lock in holes in the body shell. (Just my guess.) I am not-at-all worried. Don't see anything abnormal about mine. (your mileage may vary)

Mine has more play towardsthe bottom of the grip than near the "Panasonic DMC-FZ30". It does look like I can see slots in the seem where tabs might go. I agree, I don't think it is a "real" problem. It is strange that on the FZ5 and FZ7the rubber is tight and no gap in the seam. I guess it's just a different design on the FZ30.
