does anyone know of a free nr program? I find ps does not do a good job in that respect...or maybe it is just me?

Yes there are 2

NOISE NINJA
this is a free prog which integrates straight into photoshop. i used this to do the above noise reduction

NEAT IMAGE
A stand alone program which is also very good

haha i would be interseted to see hi iso from fz7. hopefully better than the 30. If not it must be a marketing gimmick to keep up with the other hi flyers in iso wonderland.

I'm glad I am getting old. I can't see much difference so the noise factor doesn't bother me. Very nice presentation

Ken said,

I downloaded Noise Ninja to try it but the free version overlays the image with a grid,
making it useless. Where do you get the free version?

thanks

Testing ISO with FZ7
For higher ISO mode, if you print to 4R size maybe not too bad
Below just crop (no resize):

Below ISO 400 testing, just resize

Below ISO 1600 testing, just resize

very impressive hi iso performance from the fz7

i think this is the best hi iso i have seen to date. Looks better than the fujis9500. Such a shame they didnt make an fz40 with same noise control
