I bought a 1000mA battery from batterybarn.com for $18 US back in December. It does last a bit longer then the Panasonic battery but I've never kept a closewatch to see how much longer (picture count). I've been happy with it so far. Overseas shipping will probably make you want to look elsewhere.

Actually, shipping from battery barn is not expensive. I bought one and all in all it cost around £15-£16 including shipping. And since it is below £18 I didn't have to pay any vat/duty.

simonbratt99, it's worth it - much cheaper than buying a Panasonic one from Jessops!

Regards
Dave

I bought from battery barn after recommendations from others who had used them before as the ones from China seemed a bit dodgy to me. But maybe it will be ok.

Yeah I bought two from Hong Kong last September for 1 pence each (+ P&P) both are still working fine, if I had to choose between them and the panasonic original battery I would say thePanasonic battery probably lasts about 20% longer now, but for a total of around £15 for two batteries I am still very pleased.

Just read this test from Bryan-linuxworks (dpreview Forum).
http://www.netstuff.org/battery/graphs/
The capacities above 800 mAh are often misleading. The pana batteries are ok, but too expensive. Try to get cells limiting charging.
I am using MaxCell 1000mAh packs for the FZ5, they have more energy than the original ones.
