I've been trying to find a preset mode under white balance for flourescent lighting on my FZ30, but haven't found one. I realized there's no preset for flourescent lighting on the FZ30.
Does anybody have any tips or settings for shooting under these conditions?

Thanks for your help

I don't have a FZ30 and I can't remember the last time I shot under flourescent lighting but here's some considerations/ideas.

Not all flouescent lighting is the same. There's 'warm' flourescent and 'cool' flourescent. So a specific setting may not work under all conditions. That being said, try the automatic white balance setting (I assume the FZ30 has one) and judge the results. If they're unsatisfactory, use the manual WB (again, assuming FZ30 has one) and set the WB for the lighting conditions you're working under.

Further, alternating current causes flourescent lighting to vary during the current's cycle. Because of this, you'll want to use a realatively slow shutterspeed so the camera captures the full cycle of the lighting. (I think:?) Differentcurrent standards in different countries change the shutter speed necessay...in the U.S. that should be 125. I believe anything faster will only capture part of the cycle and the lighting will therefore be skewed to either warm or cool.

Hopefully, someone with more experience than I will post some clarifications/corrections.:-)

On the FZ30 the Auto White Balance should automatically balance the colour temperature for White Fluorescent lighting under most conditions. An alternative is to shoot a plain white sheet of paper under your own fluorescent lighting and adjust the White Balance Fine Adjustment until you obtain the required result. See pages 82-83 in the manual.
