Costa Rica has about 14,000 types of butterflys.

This fellow was looking at the camera and flying backwards !!

This is one strange toad. It only comes out at night.
I shouldn't have used the flash on this little guy. It probably hurt his eyes.

Backside of a Tarantula.
This is a mean looking spider.
Very common in the rain forest.

Very nice and sharp shots. I'm surprised that the birdlet you get that close. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the comments Macnite.
Actually, all the shots were made with no support, while I was passing by, camera on hand ready to shoot.
The fz-30's fast focus and OIS made the shots possible.

I'm planning a trip to the MonteVerde park, where in a couple of days, walking in the rain forest trails, you can spot more than 250 different types of birds. I'm just waiting for my Raynox telephoto to arrive.
