Found a post on photo.net that had a link to an interesting article on Luminous Landscapes regards gettign the correct exposure using a digital camera.

I like all the tutorial at luminous ..
This article changed my methods some time ago.
I am exposing to the right now, but I had to activate blown highlight control in the setup.

Thanks for the link HarjTT, been there before but missed that one. Good info too.

Because digital lets you easily recover detail from shadow areas I was tending to underexpose rather than risk blowing out highlights.

Just shows how wrong you can be what with so much image data living at the light / right end of the scale.

I'm with you on on underexposing a shot becuase like you stated that can always recover detail in the shadows. I'm gonna experiment a wee bit after reading this to see if it works - the theory seems great!

Harjtt-

Now that I have a digi that can take Raw, any links to tutorials of how to post process/work flow? This article drives home the point about how much IQ detail is there when pushing the histogram to the right without blowing/saturation of the sensors...



Anyone else know of insights/info?:sad:
