Advice please:

I haven't seen how the FZ20 formats a new SD card. Or reformats when you want to.

I gather from Panasonic's site you can use up to a 2GB SD card - but ONLY with JPEG images.

TIFF is limited to a 1GB card.

in the FZ7 to format the card you go to the play menu and you choose set the the last menu is format

If I understand what you are asking, the FZ20 should format the SD card from the Playback Mode menu. The card is formatted as FAT16 and is limited to 2 GB.
