Roger, great capture. I don't believe I have ever seen bird in this particlular pose, (position)even landing. Of course, this may vary in species, and we don't have these birds here.

My guess is she was going a little faster than she intended so she needed her wings to help her slow down.

If you had only pressed the shutter a coupl of milliseconds before, while it was still 30 cm from the nest...

Here is one from the same day where she is a little farther from the nest. Looks like her tail feathers need repair.
