Well I orignally bought a FX8 but found a FX9 for the same price so of course I returned the FX8 to upgrade.

After using the FX8 I was very pleased with most of the pictures, I didnt really notice a focusing problem. With the FX9 it seems I can't get a good focus 90% of the time. I'm using spot focus, and I've tried the others (outdoor in lots of sunlight). I'm using Mode 2 OIS (seems to work better overall than Mode1).

Does anyone else have these issues? I can't stand taking 30 pictures of my son's first birthday and having 28 of them come out out of focus. I love the camera but I can't use it if I am going to have to deal with unreliable focusing.

Yet another bad focus sample using spot focus (centered). I focused on his aunt then reframed the shot with focus lock on. It seems like the focus is not very accurate.

Another Fx8 shot. Focus looks good to me here.
