I looked at tripods today at Best Buy. Would like to replace an old K-Mart one I bought many years ago for a 35mm cam. Find it heavy, and not as sturdy as I would like.

I would like something meduium priced (for me that is- $50 to $100), but would like some suggestions as to what to look at, as this is for the FZ-30 with lens attached. My old tripod, if I am not careful to really tighten the adjustment, will gradually let the camera drop forward. would like something lightweight but sturdy. What other features should I look for?

To insure the greatest stability possible, I'd recommend you purchase one that requiresminimal, of any, extensionof the center post to bringthe camerato your eye level. I use a Bogen model 3021. It's a very popular modeland very sturdy, but it's not a lightweight model by any means.

Oops! I meant "minimal IF any". (I'm not a very good photographer and my typing is even worse)!
